Posted on February 15, 2015February 20, 2022 By Cindy Cpd No Comments on The History of Google and Its Significant Development

We have used Google for a few years. Have you ever thought ABOUT how this search engine was built and achieved the most popular tool? The story of this search engine here may inspire you to develop something incredible someday.

The History of Google

The idea of developing search engine technology started in 1996 when Larry Page and Sergey Brin met at Stanford University a year before. The collaboration result was a search engine known as Backrub.
This technology worked to analyze backlinks and developed what we call Page Rank today. Because of this technology, Backrub could classify relevant websites. Page and Brin continued this project, along with the experiences and achievements they received from Backrub.
It was the beginning of Google. Both of them started this project in their dorm rooms using cheap, used, and even borrowed personal computers. They tried to seek more financing. After a lot of rejections, they got hope from Andy Bechtolsheim, the co-founder of Sun Microsystems.
He gave the pair $100.000 to build Google Inc. Jeff Bezos, Amazon founder, also invested in this project. The first office in Menlo Park, California was finally opened and officially launched on September 21, 1999.

The Inspiration Behind the Name

The inspiration behind the name is also interesting to know besides its early development. So, why do they name it Google? It was started when they found the word googol in the book Mathematics and the Imagination by Edward Kasner and James Newman.
It is the name for number 1 and followed by 100 zeros (0). They thought that was perfect to represent the amount of information that this search engine has to sift through. Then, they decided to modify the name into Google.

The Journey to Become the Most Popular Search Engine

The bigger the company, Page and Brin patented this search engine in 2001. They even relocated the company to Palo Alto. Since then, people have started to know about Google and are amazed by it. Due to the response of the internet users, the pair launched a variety of products, including Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Voice, and even a web browser known as Chrome.
The company even invented YouTube as a video streaming platform and Blogger as a writing platform. This company was even bigger in 2015 after Alphabet, a conglomerate invested his money. Sergey Brin became president and Larry Page became the CEO. The company recruited a new member namely Sundar Pichai.

Google Inc. Nowadays

Nowadays, Google is not only a successful product but also YouTube, Android, and Gmail. YouTube has become one of the most popular streaming video platforms in the world. You can also find the latest data about how many people in the world are using Android devices.
Sending a message is much easier because of Gmail. This product helps people more than just sending text but also photos, videos, or other file formats. Indeed, Google provides a lot of information that helps internet users to find what they are looking for. It connects millions of websites with people who need certain information.
